“Expats” Series Review: Prime Video presents a six-episodic American Drama series “Expats” currently streaming on the platform with multiple languages along with subtitles.

In this article, we are going to discuss the recap of episode 1. Before this, let’s have a recap of the story. The story of this series is based on “The Expatriates” by Janice Y. K. Lee. This show is about a mother who lost her son, and then her life changed. Whoever was involved with that young boy also faced some sudden changes.

The series shows a housewife named Margaret who wants to enjoy her life and follow life goals, but after giving birth to a baby, she became changed. We also see a baby can impact anybody’s life. As soon as she became a mother, she started taking care of her child, but deep inside, she was tired of this. Her life became changed after losing her own baby named Gus.

On the other side, we also see a woman named Hilary who doesn’t want a child. She takes pills to stop pregnancy. She wants to adopt babies but doesn’t want to birth them. Looking at her condition, her husband gets depressed sometimes and hangs out with other girls.

The third character of this series is Mercy who thinks that she is cursed. Wherever she goes, she carries problems with her. She was with Gus when the little baby got lost in the huge crowd. Margaret’s life was happy, but after losing her baby, she changed, and her family did too. On the other side, Mercy changed as she thinks that she is responsible for the disappearance of Gus.

It shows a balance between blame and accountability. Also, the life of Hong Kong people. It is somehow slow-paced but deep to understand the dynamics. Like we are seeing, Mercy is responsible for the disappearance of a young boy, but Mother Margaret actually doesn’t want to live the life of a typical housewife. Now, it’s important to see who is actually behind Gus’s disappearance.

The cinematography of the series is quite good, that’s what will attract you till the end. It has humor as well as a social message.

Kinda good series. Two episodes created suspense so far. We understand the characters, but now let’s see who is the actual brain behind that incident. Moreover, where little Gus is now?

Two episodes of “Expats” are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video with Hindi, English language along with subtitles.
