Yu Yu Hakusho Episode 1: YuYu Hakusho is a Japanese action fantasy adventure drama TV series created by Akira Morii and Kazutaka Sakamoto for Netflix. It follows the story of Yusuke Urameshi, a teenager who sacrifices himself to save a boy from a truck accident. With a second chance at life, Yusuke and his allies work as spirit detectives to protect the human world from demon criminals.
The episode of Yu Yu Hakusho begins with the dead body of Urameshi Yusuke who is being taken to the hospital after an accident. Where Yukimura Keiko, arrives to find him having an out-of-body experience. A flashback from four hours before the incident shows a roundworm monster escaping from the underworld while Yusuke and Keiko are in school.
The scene shifts, and we see that Yusuke is caught smoking on the rooftop and is punished by the teacher. His mother berates him, and he leaves to get some air. On the street, his arch-nemesis Kuwabara Kazuma and his friends try to fight Yusuke, but Yusuke beats Kazuma and his friends, leaving Kazuma further agitated. Kazuma visits Keiko’s ramen shop, where Yusuke eats ramen after school.

Yusuke leaves the restaurant and notices a truck driver about to crash into a little boy. He pushes the boy away and gets run over by the truck. The narrator explains that the human and demon worlds were connected in the past when Yokai attacked humans.
Botan informs Yusuke that his death was unexpected due to his unusual behavior. He is taken to the Spirit World to meet her boss, Koenma, who reveals that he will be reincarnated if he agrees to become a Spirit Detective. Yusuke’s duties as a Spirit Detective are to stop the Yokai from invading the human world.
Yusuke refuses to believe his human body is not dead yet. Sakyo who is the owner of several casinos pitches an investment deal to Mr. Gonzo Tarukane, who is aware of a deep pit where the roundworm monster originated. Botan asks Yusuke to visit his funeral and see his mourners’ thoughts.

In this story, a roundworm monster enters the body of a boy who was bullied by his classmates, leading to a fire in Yusuke’s house. Kazuma and his friends witness the incident and become worried. Koenmo informs Yusuke to possess his body and save his classmates from the monster. Yusuke’s spirit enters the house and he resurrects himself, bringing Kieko out. Yusuke fights the monster, which turns into a yokai.
After a long fight, Yusuke exorcises the monster using his spirit energy, saving Kirino. Yusuke crushes the monster with his bare hands. Kazuma wakes up to see Yusuke carrying Kirino home.
The next morning, Yusuke’s mom and Keiko hug him, expressing happiness. Koenmo worries about Yusuke fighting three powerful Yokai in the Spirit World and the episode ends.
