Vitthal Teedi Review: Regional movie makers are now coming with some really amazing and promising content and audiences are now not dependent only on Bollywood for entertainment,  in the market of regional content, Gujrati platform Oho Gujrati launched with a new series titled Vitthal Teedi, I just finished the series and here in the post i am going to review it, I would talk about the plot, performances and few more highlights of the series.

The web series stars Pratik Gandhi (Scam 1992 fame) in the main lead role, the series also stars Ragi Jani, Brinda Trivedi, Prashant Barot, and Prem Gandhi in crucial roles, the series is created by Abhishek Jain and produced by him too. The series is of a total of 6 episodes and all episodes are approx 30 minutes long and are available in Gujrati audio with English subtitles.

Plot

The plot of the series revolves around Vitthal (Played by Pratik Gandhi), Vitthal (Pratik Gandhi) can do anything for his family. At an earlier age, he lost his mother. Vithal and Vandana are raised by his father who is a priest in the village’s Temple. His big brother was raised by his maternal uncle. Due to the lack of money, Vithal started playing poker. The money he earns from gambling uses in his household. Vithal is managing everything like his big brother’s expenses of study, household expenses. One day Vandana take a promise to Vithal that he never play poker again. Now again they are facing so many issues. Would he start playing again? or he has something else to do? to know you have to watch the full series on the Oho Gujrati website and App.

Performances

Pratik Gandhi as Vithal is a delight to watch. This guy is so obsessed with acting that you can never get to know you are watching him on screen. Brinda Trivedi as Vandana is too good in her sister’s role. Other actors like Ragi Jani as father and priest, Prashant Barot as Dasha Bapu who organize an event where everyone plays poker, and Prem Gandhvi as Kanu datti all were good in their roles.

Even a cameo role of Shraddha Dangar as Manisha was amazing. Special thanks to the Vishal Thakkar as Young Vitthal Tripathi and Bhavya Sirohi as Young Vandana Tripathi. Their role as small children is also good. Overall the series is full of amazing performances and everyone is just amazing except few sequences.

Analysis

Vitthal Teedi where teedi means 3 in the card. This is the nickname of Vitthal which he got because he is too good at poker. The Series revolves around poker and the life of Vithal. One who doesn’t know much about Poker might get bore for some time but slowly you will connect yourself with the story. The series shows the lower middle class’s problems so it’s got emotional too many times and the acting of the actors makes you more emotional because it’s too hard to believe that all this is a fictional setting.

Film sets in the 80s still you will found the locations natural. The narration of the story is good. Songs are in Gujarati but still, you can feel the music and understand them. Again background music of the series is awesome as Pratik Gandhi’s last series Scam 1992 had. You may feel bore in between but trust me it’s worth your time and series ending with a promise of season2.

Now coming to the drawbacks, the series is very much predictable, there is nothing like suspense & thrill in the series, the screenplay is very poor and it makes sometimes the series dull. The length of the series seems a little long sometimes and the series climax leaves us with many questions answered.
