Shamshera Copied From Bahubali?: Shamshera, a much-awaited Bollywood Action Drama Period film has been released in the theatres and the reviews are quite mixed for good reasons. The film packs power performances from the cast but something quite sticks out of the movie, for sure and that is the similarities between Shamshera and previous movies that came off as a behemoth and made the whole world crazy, I am talking specifically here for Baahubali.

It is notable that there are quite some similarities between Shamshera and Baahubali.

  1. Their fathers died doing something for their clan or people and then the son goes off fulfilling his father’s dream.
  2. Their mothers are imprisoned and treated badly by the people. In Baahubali, we see Devasena being treated badly and kept in chains. In Shamshera, Balli’s Mother is kept in chains and there’s a scene where she falls to the ground and remembers her son watching her so she keeps going just like Devasena did in Baahubali and was also very vocal about it.
  3. Both leads, let it be Ranbir or Prabhas had a mentor-like person, who they can look up to. It was Katappa in Baahubali and in Shamshera, it was Ronit Roy (Peerbaba) and Doodh Singh (Saurabh Shukla)

These are some of the notable similarities that we found between Shamshera and Baahubali. It might be just a coincidence or maybe Bollywood is creating rip-offs of South Indian Movies here. Other than these similarities, the film seems to be written very nicely by the writers and we congratulate them for crossing this milestone.

"I'm just a humble cinephile with a knack for stringing words together. My reviews may not be as fancy as "The Grand Budapest Hotel" but they'll give you a good idea of whether a movie is worth the ticket price. I may not be a "Casablanca" of criticism, but I'll always give you my honest opinion. So join me on this journey of cinematic discovery, it's sure to be "One for the Ages."
