Sardar Ka Grandson Review: Netflix original film, Sardar Ka Grandson is now available on the platform, I just finished the film and here I am with the detailed review of the film, I am going to talk about the bad and good in the film and few more details.
The movie stars Arjun Kapoor, Neena Gupta, Rakul Preet Singh, John Abraham, and Aditi Rao Haidri in the main lead roles, the movie also stars Kanwaljist Singh, Soni Rajdan, and others in crucial roles. The movie is directed by Kaashvie Nair and was produced by T Series Film and John Abraham Entertainment.
Again like previous films, the story of the film was very much clear from the trailer itself, the story the film revolves around Amreek (Played By Arjun Kapoor) and His Grandmother, Sardar (Played by Neena Gupta). Sardar is ill and during her last days, she wants to see her old home in Lahore (Pakistan). Due to the restrictions, she can’t get a Visa for Pakistan so her Grandson Amreek Decides to bring the house from Lahore To Punjab. How would he manage to do so? would he be able to succeed? to know this you have to watch the full movie on Netflix.
Neena Gupta is the Hero of the Film for me and there is no competition for her performance in the film, She is amazing and brilliant in her role and she is the most impactful character in the film. Her dialogue delivery, the way she talks and her expressions bring charm to the film. Aditi Rao Haidri is So calm and smooth, she has done a brilliant job as Young Sardar and she is the second highlight of the film after Neena Gupta. These two actors add charm and calmness to the film.
Arjun Kapoor is a little better here as compared to his previous films but still he struggles a lot in terms of expression. He looks almost the same in different emotional sequences. Rakul Preet Singh was good in her role and she had done a decent job. Other characters were average in the film and the film has nothing to show in terms of performance apart from Neena Gupta and Haidri.
The plot and idea of the film look amazing but the movie was executed very badly, coming to the drawbacks one by one, Punjabi accents is again an issue for the Bollywood, years passed but the Bollywood can’t think the better character of Punjabi’s than characters full of Peg, Putar, Peg-SheG, Dhol Music, etc. I had seen an amazing Punjabi character in the film titled Milestone and now I landed here. The music of the film is very disappointing again, I don’t know what makes by remaking the old songs. the dialogues of the film are below average, and I am sure that the Character of Arjun Kapoor was named Amreek so that he can say Amreek From America.
The location and VFX of the film are good and it gives a somewhat realistic feel to the movie, the idea of the plot of fresh and it adds a major boost to the film.
- Name Of The Film: Sardar Ka Grandson
- Release Date: 18th May 2021
- Platform: Netflix
- Rating: 2.5/5
- Did I Like It?: Yes, In Parts
- Recommended?: Depends Upon You
I am going with 2.5 out of 5 stars for the film, the movie looks fresh and unique but it lacks due to its poor execution, if you love Neena Gupta, I would suggest you watch the film, If you have nothing to watch this weekend, this movie is ideal choice to watch with Family. There are no skin shows and any strong verbal dialogues, the movie is suitable to watch with family.
