Gunjan Saxena Review: Janhvi Kapoor starer much-awaited Netflix original movie Gunjan Saxena is finally released on Netflix, the film was premiered a few days back for the media and the movie critics, here I am going to review the movie after watching it on Netflix.
The movie stars actors Janhavi Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Angad Vedi, Vineet Kumar and more, the movie is directed by Sharan Sharma and Produced by the Karan Johar, the movie is based on the early life of Gunjan Saxena, India’s first women to fly the fighter plane. Now let’s review the movie.
Gunjan Saxena Movie Review
- Name Of The Movie: Gunjan Saxena The Kargil Girl
- Star Cast: Janhavi Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Vineet Kumar
- Directed By: Sharan Sharma
- Release Date: 12th August 2020
- Platform: Netflix
- Genre: Drama
- Rating: 3.5/5
- Recommended: Yes
- Parents Guide: Watch With the Whole Family
The plot of the movie is based on the life and struggles of the Gunjan Saxena, how a girl fight with the society to make her dream true, the story is all about that, the story starts from the childhood of Gunjan Saxena and Ends in a war zone if you are looking for some Action and BGM like Uri, this story is not for you, the movie is more about the journey, not about the fighting and flying jets in the war zone, the movie is very much emotional and this is the only reason that I keep watching the movie till the end, there is a great presentation of the bond between the father and daughter and this makes the movie must watch for you all. The movie also shows the ugly side of Indian society’s mindset, where they think women are weak and they can never match the level of Men.
There is a dialogue in the film, ” Tum Se Nahi Hoga Gunjan”, I think it was meant for Janhavi Kapoor,
This was the weakest part of the movie especially from the lead actress Janhvi Kapoor, she was brilliant in the short role in her previous Netflix original film Ghost Stories, but here she disappoints me, she just doesn’t fit in the role, although she tried very hard she fails most of the times, Pankaj Tripathi as the father of Jahnvi is brilliant, he is the core of the movie and his performance is just pure and from heart, he steals the show, Angad Bedi as Gunjan Saxena’s brother is equally good, one more notable performance from the movie is by Vineet Kumar, although he is in the negative role he add some extra thrill and emotion in the movie and he surely has the bright future ahead.
The movie is just like the Panipat Movie, where supporting actors were brilliant but the lead one sucks, although Janhvi did much better the disastrous Arjun Kapoor in the Panipat. This was just constructive criticism for her, as she is getting better film by film but she really needs to work hard in these types of movies.
The movie is written very beautifully, its a pure gold and this is the plus point for the movie, the screenplay is written very beautifully and it keeps you connected emotionally, the editing of the movie was equally good, the movie is approx 110 minutes longs and it would never bore you, but, if you are watching this for action and military fights, this story and film is surely not for you, the scenes of the movie especially the talks of Pankaj Tripathi and Janhvi were taken so beautifully that it would make you emotional for sure. Once again I would say, Emotions are the core of this film.
We are going with 3.5 out of 5 for the movie, the movie is written so brilliantly, the movie just lacks at few places where Janhvi Kapoor fails to impress me, and you can find those scenes by yourself too, overall it was a good experience and the movie is a complete family entertainer. The movie is approx 110 minutes long and is now available on Netflix.
