1962 War In The Hills Review: Poor VFX & Screenplay Makes Unbearable

1962 War In The Hills Review: Hotstar original series based upon the 1962 Indo China War ‘ 1962 War In The Hill ‘ was released today on the Hotstar, here in the post we are going to review the series, we would talk about the performances, Plot, Vfx and many more details from the series.

The web series stars Abhay Deol, Akash Tushar, and Hemal Ingle in main lead roles, the series is created and directed by Mahesh Manjerekar, there is a total of 10 episodes in the series and all are approx 40 minutes long, Let’s Jump To The Review.

Plot

The plot of the series revolved around the 1962 Indo China war, the story first deals with the family relations, emotions, and married life of Army Men, then it goes to War Zone and there it shows some detailed and researched story on the 1962 War, the plot is mainly focused on Major Sooraj Singh (Played by Abhay Deol) and his family, the series is all about the bravery, Sacrifices, and brilliance of the Major Sooraj Singh. The also focuses on Trauma that wives of army men and their family goes through during war situations. The series also shows the dark sides of War and tells us how Politics can ruin thousands of families.

Performances

The dialogues of the series are very bad and it affects the performances directly, Abhay Deol is up to the mark, he is just above average and it is one of his poorest performances to date, Maahie Gill looks decent and she has played brilliantly, Anup Soni is decent in his role and same is with the Jay Parab and Hemant Kumar. Sanjay Dhadhic and Mayang Chang were also decent with the role, the sad part is there is not even a single performance which is noticeable in the whole series.

Analysis

The Vfx is the Worst Part of the series, Screenplay is very bad, and the same is with the editing, there are some funny Vfxs which doesn’t make sense in the series. The screenplay is at another low, the episode starts pretty good but it goes slow and slow episode by episode, there is more of family and emotional drama than War Zones, I was expecting great detailing but it was also missing here, the locations are good and they look realistic and this is the only good thing about the series.

The music of the series is also below average and there is nothing special in the BGM and music of the series, the episodes are very long and boring, there is no thrill and suspense in the series and the series falls flat.

Overall

I am going with 1.5 out of 5 stars for the series, the series is a very poor portrayal of such a big event, the VFX are very poor and this series doesn’t deserve your 7 hours, Please avoid watching it, better to check The Girl On The Train on Netflix and other options. 1962 War In The Hills is another flop series of Hotstar after the Kajal Agrawal’s Live Telecast.

If you are a fan of Abhay Deol and you still want to watch the series, You can check the series on Hotstar, there are a total of 10 episodes available and all are approx 40 minutes long. The good thing about the series is, You can watch it with your family.
