What Happened To Laena?: HBO’s House Of The Dragon has started showing off its traits of a worthy prequel after giving us a tremendous last week’s Episode and has kept the streak going with this week’s Episode titled “The Princess & The Queen” which took a 10-year jump from what we saw in Episode 5.
It starts off with the birth of Joffrey (not the one you think), the son of Rhaenyra & Ser Laenor Velaryon who is also their third child but what happened in Episode 6 needs to be discussed over coffee because a lot happened but the saddest and a bit cryptic thing was what happened to Laena, wife of Daemon.
As we all know that Daemon is a power-hungry prince who is now away betrothed to House Velaryon’s Laena and is father to 2 daughters while Lady Laena is pregnant. Hungry for an heir, during labor the maester tries everything to pass the child but the effort goes in vain and while Daemon is standing by, he asks the maester whether the child can be brought out by cutting her from the womb.
The maester answers that there is no surety whether the child is alive or not and if they try to cut the child off from her, Lady Laena will die. The next thing we see is Lady Laena running towards her dragon Vhagar and from that, we can understand that Daemon had asked the maester to cut off the child from her since her dress is full of blood and she’s holding onto her womb from where the blood is gushing out.
Laena asks her dragon Vhagar to burn her so her death comes at her own discretion and that’s what happens. Daemon follows her but is too late and finds her burnt.
