“Three of Us” Movie Summary And Ending: “Three of Us” is a family drama movie with a runtime of 99 minutes. The movie is all about revisiting old memories and the journey of three middle-aged people. It’s written and directed by Avinash Arun. Before discussing the recap of this movie, let’s have a quick understanding of the story.

A heartwarming story evolves around a middle-aged woman who is suffering from dementia. As she returns to her childhood town, she finds her lost love and nostalgic childhood.

Shailaja Desai, who works in the Divorce Department in Mumbai, is suffering from dementia. Husband Dipankar agrees to her request. They both reach Konkan city together. Sailaja’s childhood is hidden in this beautiful seaside town. Childhood school, playground, old temple, seashore—everything seems to weave a story for her one by one.

Among these things, she finds her old friend Pradeep, an ordinary bank employee and Shailaja’s childhood friend. Seeing an old friend, Pradeep gets ready to accompany her on this reminiscence expedition. Pradeep, Shailaja, and Dipankar start their journey together. The cinematographer beautifully captures the natural beauty of the city. From the mist-covered land in the morning to the night’s dazzling lights, a breathtakingly beautiful environment will blow your mind.

But along with this, we get to know some other unknown facts that surround Shailaja’s life. We learn about Venu, who is Shailaja’s sister. During their childhood days while Venu and Shailaja were playing tug-of-war near the well, little Venu slipped into the well and lost her life. After this horrible accident, Shailaja left the town with her parents without informing anything to Pradeep, and slowly she started to suffer from dementia. After a long 28 years, she again met Pradeep and regained her true self. In childhood, they used to be Mogambo and Daga; this is how close they were.

On the other side, Sarika Kamat, the wife of Pradeep, also knows about Shailaja but doesn’t stop her husband from going with his old friend. Pradeep also slowly finds his true self, starting to write poems for Shailaja, which shows an adorable love between them. Of course, there is love between Pradeep and Shailaja, but the director doesn’t create any relationship complications. The movie shows a sweet understanding between every side, which is actually good to see. After creating a memorable journey, Shailaja and Dipankar leave the town.

Ending: As I said, this movie is about revisiting old memories. We all have some good and bad memories. Revisiting good memories can give us pleasure, but we always avoid our bad memories. Shailaja also has good and bad memories. In good memories, she revisits her childhood school, temple, and seashore, but the thing she doesn’t want to remember is about Venu.

There’s a well where Venu fell down and died. This horrible past haunts Shailaja, and she didn’t dare to visit that same place. At the very end of the movie, we understand that this incident was the origin from where she slowly started forgetting her memories. However, Shailaja stops running from this bad past, and in the end, she visits the same place where her sister, Venu, died. This indicates she accepted her bad past and shows love for her deceased sister.

The movie also shows how she confesses her unrequited love for Pradeep. But she understands that she has a beautiful life because she has a son named “Bharat” who is studying engineering at IIT. So, she doesn’t want to ruin her beautiful family and also Pradeep’s. In the end, Pradeep shows his love for his wife Sarika and two daughters.

This is everything about the movie “Three of Us,” a beautifully cinematic storytelling of revisiting nostalgic memories. “Three of Us” is currently streaming on Netflix with Hindi language along with subtitles.
