Roohi Review: This Horror Comedy Fails To Touch Our ‘Rooh’

Roohi Movie Review: Rajkumar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor, and Varun Sharma’s starer Roohi is another big thing today after the Shivratri, Roohi is the first Big Budget movie that is hitting theatres today and here in the post we are going to review the movie, we would talk about the performances, plot and more highlights of the movie.

The movie is said to be the next entry in Stree’s horror universe, the movie is created by the makers of stree and directed by Hardik Mehta, the movie is approx 2 hours long and released only in the Hindi Language, Here goes the full review of the movie.

Plot/Story Of The Movie

The Plot of the movie revolves mainly around Bhawra (Played By Rajkumar Rao) and Kattani (Played By Varun Sharma), they are involved in the business of Kidnapping girls from their town and then forcibly marry them with the families in the big town, the issue begins when they do the same with Roohi (Played By Janhvi Kapoor) and they Kidnaps her, and they came to know that she has two souls Roohi and Afzana and they both falls for her, and here comes the blend of Horror and comedy when they both fights to get their love. Who was Afzana and what was the background story? to know this you have to watch the full movie in cinema halls.

Performances

After watching the Ludo I was having Huge expectations from Rajkumar Rao here but he fails here, the Poor plot and uneven screenplay make it poorer, Rajkumar Rao looks like 4-Year-old Rao, Janhvi Kapoor is average and she doesn’t have many dialogues in the film, She is just an inch better from her last releases Gunjan Saxena, she still needs to improve a lot, the biggest charm from the movie is Varun Sharma, he is killing it again here, his comic timing, dialogue delivery everything is just awesome and he is doing exactly the same for what he is known for.

Manav Vij is decent in his role and this movie certainly doesn’t provide justice to his talent. The rest of the cast was decent and there is nothing special in terms of performances here.

Analysis

The biggest issue with the films like Roohi is our expectations, when the makers announced that they are going to make another movie like Stree we get 10 times excited and we starts expecting the same or better content and we start expecting more and more and i think this is the biggest issue with the movie, I was having huge expectation with it and sadly it falls flat.

The screenplay is very poor and the movie goes for so long, even climax is very poor and same is with the editing, the make artist has done a good job, the locations are decent and the music of the series if good, The editing part of the movie is very weak and it makes the movie very long, there are many scenes in the movie that doesn’t make any sense and some odd dialogue makes the movie boring and uninteresting.

Overall Rating

I am going with 2.5 out of 5 Stars for the Roohi, there is nothing special in the film and this Roohi fails to touch your ‘Rooh'( Aatma), the movie is good for OTT binge and you can watch it when it comes to ott, the movie is not a theatre material for sure, still if you have nothing to do and you are a fan of Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkumar Roa or Varun Sharma, You can check the movie is theatres near You.
