Blind (2023) Movie Review: Jio Cinema Original thriller film ‘Blind’, which is a remake of the Korean film of the same name, is now streaming on Jio Cinema as a direct OTT release. The film is directed by Shome Makhija and produced by Jio Studios. It is available to watch on Jio Cinema in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and a few more dubbed versions with subtitles. The plot of the film revolves around Gia (played by Sonam Kapoor), who loses her eyesight and her brother in an accident. Meanwhile, a serial killer is killing young girls in the city, and Gia is also one of his targets. To know how Gia will save herself from that psycho, you need to watch the full movie on Jio Cinema.
The biggest issue with the film is its screenplay. The film looks dull from the first 10 minutes, and it never feels like a thriller film. The below-average performances from the lead cast make it worse. The climax and some other sequences were slightly decent, but the overall film was a dull affair. The locations of the film are good, and the music is also below average.
Sonam Kapoor never fits into this character, and her expressions and body language were never like that of a blind person. If you want to watch stunning performances in blind roles, you may watch Yami Gautam in “Kaabil” and Nayanthara in “Netrikann“. Sonam fails again, and she is just below average throughout the film.
Vinay Pathak, as Purab, excels in his role, and he is very good as a detective. He is the best performer in the film for me, and it is only his performance that makes the film slightly watchable. I was shocked to see Purab Kohli like this. There were not many dialogues for him, and that impacted his role very badly. The makers tried to make his character silent and intense, but that backfired for the film. The rest of the actors were also decent enough to watch.
I am going with 1.5 out of 5 stars for the film. The film never looks like a thriller film and i will suggest you skip the film. The film is suitable to watch with family and now available to watch on Jio Cinema for free.
