Imad Fayez Mughniyeh, also known as al-Hajj Radwan, was a founding member of Lebanon’s Islamic Jihad Organization. He was known for his brilliant military handling skills and was also known as an untraceable ghost.
He was born in a small village called Tayr Dibba, near Tyre, on December 7, 1962. His family was a poor farming family. After some time, his father moved with them to southern Beirut, where he became active in the Palestinian Fatah movement with his cousin, Ali Abu Hassan Deeb. He joined his rebel group and started working with them.
Afterward, he studied engineering at the American University of Beirut. He worked as the chief security officer for Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah, from whom he learned many things and started building his own empire in Lebanon. He married his cousin, Saada Badr Al-Din.
US authorities claimed that he was involved in many direct or indirect terrorist attacks in several countries, including suicide bombings, murders, and kidnappings. His attacks included US embassy bombings, which killed almost 350 people. He was then included in the European list of most wanted individuals, and the FBI and CIA offered a $5 million reward for him. He died in a car bomb blast on February 12, 2008.
