Bardo Netflix Review: Bardo: The False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths is a Mexican black comedy-drama film directed by Academy Award winner Alejandro G. Inarritu, here goes the review and some more highlights of the film.
Netflix released this film after it premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival and has received mixed reviews from critics. The film was released by Netflix after being cut by 22 minutes; let’s see how much I like it.
The story follows a Mexican journalist named Silverio Gama, who just changed his profession to documentary filmmaking and started living in Los Angeles with his wife Lucia and his son Lorenzo.
When we see his work, it is now liked by people, and the couples are happy together, but they are still haunted or feel sad about the death of his first son, Mateo, who died just after his birth, and they still keep his ashes and feel sad for his death. We’ll see how their lives change in this film when Gama meets with America’s ambassador. If you liked the plot up to this point, you should check it out.
When it comes to the length of this film, it feels long at times but is still enjoyable, with the first half being flawlessly executed and the second half dragging at times. Now, in terms of direction, the shots feel good and the scenes are perfectly executed, but the writing feels a little boring, as I believe it takes more time to get to more points, similar to how it takes more time on a single character.
On the other side, I like the cinematography, which is perfectly executed, along with the shot, which is done with proper camera work, which is best, and finally, the music, which fits perfectly with the scene.
I’ll give it 2.5/5 because everything is perfect except for the length, which only feels long at times; otherwise, the camera angle doesn’t feel like it’s been cut multiple times, which is good; and I recommend you watch it if you like black comedies or movies by Alejandro G. Inarritu.
