Web Series Like/Similar To Avrodh: Avrodh is the latest outing of Sony Liv in the OTT market. Previously they renovated themselves with a new logo and interface of their app and came back with solid series like Your Honor and Undekhi, and it seems like they aren’t done yet. Sony Liv is bringing a new show called Avrodh which is based on the Indian army’s attack on the Pakistani terrorist camps or popularly known as the Surgical Strike which happened in 2016.

Since the show is going into detail and will focus on the bravery on the Indian army, we thought we should suggest more series which showcases the same emotions and love for our Army.

The Forgotten Army

Amazon Prime released a series at the beginning of this year which was focused on the Indian army and its work in the Period of British rule. The show was directed by Kabir Khan and narrated by Shah Rukh Khan. The plot follows the Indian army who marched towards the capital with the slogan Chalo Dilli, So as to get rid of the Britishers and gain Independence from Colonial rule.

The troops led by Subhash Chandra Bose had both men and women who strived to work hard and fought for our Independence but somehow their courage and valor got lost in the history somewhere, thus getting the name The Forgotten Army.

This Alt Balaji series premiered at the beginning of this year in January. The story follows an army lawyer – Monika Mehra who is assigned to a what initially seemed an open and shut case of the death of an army officer and that of two terrorists in a highly violent encounter. Everything seems easy at first until secrets start to unravel making Monika stuck in a maze and what seemed like an easy work turns out to be more complex than she would’ve imagined. It stars Jennifer Winget, Rajat Kapoor, Tanuj Virwani in the lead.

State of siege 26/11

Zee 5 also entered the market with its own army show which is based on the true incidents which happened in Mumbai 2008. The terrorist attack on Taj Hotel, Hospital, Bars, Railway station was the talk of the nation, and people still get terrified talking about it. Hundreds of innocent lives were lost. The series named the State of Siege:

26/11 will tell the story of how the army professional planned and executed to capture the terrorists and bring them to justice. What makes the series different from other movies and series which are based on the same topic is that the series focuses on the Army’s and NSG’s perspective of tackling the problem instead of showing the attacks from terrorists’ perspective.

The Test Case

This is a 2017 web series that premiered on Alt Balaji and starred Airlift and The Lunchbox fame Nimrat Kaur. The show focused on her character who is an intelligent and highly motivated individual. She is supposed to be the first woman who is inducted into the program of training for the special forces.

She is supposed to be the “test case” for inducting women into the special forces by training them in logistics and combats. Though very smart, she faces stereotypical biases by her contemporaries in the training but she still has the will to overcome everyone and achieving her goal.

The Regiment Diaries

The show debuted in 2018 on the EPIC channel. As we know that EPIC is one of the most popular infotainment channels in India, Thus the channel gave the rights to Netflix so that the show can get a reach with a large audience. The show is called Regiment Diaries and focuses on behind the heavily guarded regiments and the stories of courage, bravery, and quick thinking while being on a battle by several army professionals. The soldiers who tell the stories are either retired or still on functional duty. This makes it an engrossing watch.
