Sumitra Kumari Jubilee: The latest period drama set in the early 1950s tells us about the golden age of Indian cinema where people from different parts of India came to fulfill their dreams in the city of dreams, Mumbai. The series is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane.

Here in this article, we are talking about the characters played in the series. One such character was Sumitra Kumari, who was an actor and co-founder of the very famous studio of that time, “Roy Talkies,” played by the beautiful Indian actress Aditi Rao Hydari.

Talking about Sumitra Kumari, the character is completely fictional, and there is no real person by this name in the history of Indian cinema. However, the character seems to be inspired by Devika Rani. There are many similarities between them Devika Rani also co-founded the very famous studio Bombay Talkies with her husband.

Devika’s Husband was a film producer, just like Sumitra Kumari with her husband Srikant Roy founded Roy Talkies. Devika’s debut film was a crime thriller “Jawani Ki Hawa” (which was released in 1935), and her co-star was Najam-Ul-Hasan, whom she fell in love with, just like Sumitra falls in love with Jamshed Khan in the series.

However, there are many similarities between the character, but still, the series is not based on any true events or stories.
