Shaitaan Review: Vikas Bahl is known for creating some stunning films in Bollywood. For the last few years, he was out of the frame and he returned with the Disaster film ‘Ganpath’ a few months back. Another film of his titled ‘Shaitaan’ has now been released on the big screens and I just finished watching it. Here is a detailed review of the film.

The film stars Ajay Devgn as Kabir, R Madhavan as Vasraj and Janki Bodiwala as Janvi along with Jyothika as Jyoti in the main lead roles. The film is around 2 Hours and 20 Minutes long and is suitable to watch with family and Kids. For all those who don’t know, The film is an official remake of the Gujarati film ‘Vash‘ which was released at the box office last Year.

The story of the film begins at Kabir’s Farmhouse where we get to see that Kabir is enjoying and spending quality time with his family. All of sudden a man named Vashraj arrives at their house and asks for help as his battery is dead. Things get horrific when all of a sudden Janvi starts following the instructions of that man and he even attacks Kabir, her dad. How all this thing is related to things Janvi did at a Dhaba a few hours back while travelling and will Kabir be able to save his family and daughter? To know this you need to watch the film on big screens.

Let me make one thing clear I have watched the original film too and as the film is the remake of that film, I am going to draw a comparison between these two films for sure. Sadly the film is not that horrifying and shocking as compared to Vash. There are high chance that a few scenes from the original film were removed just to get a UA Certificate. The BGM excels in the film and it is way better than the original. The climax of the film is again on the dull side as compared to the original one.

Coming to the performances, R Madhavan excels as ‘Shaitaan’ and he did a great job in the film. Although Vijay Sethupathi is still the first choice for me for this role. R Madhvan looks scary during the Post interval sequences while he was decent before the interval. Jyothika was full of emotions throughout the film and she was fabulous. Janki Bodiwala repeats the same excellence from the original film and she has done it again.

Ajay Devgan is classic in the film like his old family Man avatar films. His expressions give the vibe of the Drishyam series. His eyes look intense and you can clearly see those emotions coming out of the eyes without uttering a word during the intense sequences.

The writing of the film is slightly lazy and the climax was not up to the mark. The film slips in the middle and some scenes are very slow. The BGM and music give a major boost to the film and the Post credit gives satisfaction. The locations were fantastic and the same goes with the costumes and all. The screenplay lags in at few places and the Poor writing also weakens the film.

I am going with 3 Out of 5 stars for the film. The film is a decent watch and if you are looking for something to watch this weekend with your family, This should be your top choice. If you have seen the original film, I will suggest you skip the film.

This was Shaitaan Movie Review, what do you think about the film? Please let us know in the comments.
