Episode 1 of this show begin with the celebration of birthday in Las Vegas , where we see Ava, the frontrunner for a special ops team, learns from her contacts that there’s a bomb about to go off in less than 60 seconds. The bomb is actually some pyrotechnics hooked up to the DJ set, so they can breathe a sign of relief.
Ava decides to go in hot and speaks to a Russian called Koslov, who gives her his number and promises that “by tonight, the city will be dead.” When he leaves, Ava informs the others that Koslov is about to meet his target, so she calls in the Vulture, their own helicopter.

After that we see that Ava actually bugged Koslov’s phone and transmitted a target to a large helicopter, piloted by family man Paul. The men inside are caught red-handed as this Special Forces team, armed with night-vision goggles, kill everyone outright. Koslov manages to slip away with his briefcase armed with a nuke that could level the whole city. Angela, their sniper across the rooftop, manages to land a double headshot on a few goons and gives the all-clear for the others.
The team finds the vault where Koslov is inside and helps them get inside. Hagerty is called in to disarm the bomb with 2 seconds left. The whole team celebrates as Koslov is taken away, but not everyone is ready to leave just yet.
Chad McKnight decides to party in Las Vegas, while Ava is more withdrawn due to her dark history and unresolved trauma. Where we see McKnight, Trunk, and Angela crash a Bachelorette party with Paul, who doesn’t drink due to his family’s concerns. McKnight stops him from drinking and tells Paul to let his hair down.
They notice something wrong with the disarmed nuke at a CIA Black Site, but can’t get through to Hagerty, who is currently doing drugs and high on shrooms. Hagerty encourages Paul to eat some of the dips, which he’s laced with drugs. Paul eats a fair amount, and Ava uses her resources to help him.
The operation is far from over, as every Special Forces member is not in a fit state to work. Ava overhears McKnight talking to his mother, leading to a risqué moment involving Paul and another guy in the shower. Ava is crushed when she sees Lerner and him together, as she had the hots for McKnight and confided in her about her feelings.
Ending Explained: Netflix’s ‘Obliterated’ Ending Explained
Ava receives a mysterious call from someone revealing they still have the bomb and must detonate it unless the group releases Koslov. They have 5 minutes to clear the place out, so Ava leaves the room. They take a Zoom call in the bedroom, which is hilarious, especially when the camel shows up on screen. Their leader tells them they have 7 hours to find the nuke, and under the influence of Hagerty and Lerner, it’s not going to be easy.
At last, we see that, Ava realizes that there’s a “main course” with a real buyer, and the appetizer Koslov mentioned earlier is just a crypto buyer. Lerner is working with an eccentric singleton called Sharonda, who is undercover and working with Koslov. Hagerty shows up in the hotel room, completely naked, and collapses on the ground. Everyone is scooped up and taken off for unknown parts.
