Balram Singh Mehta was born on 16th April 1945 in Punjab. In his early age, at the age of just 17 years, he joined NDA and later joined the Indian Army in 1965. He was commissioned into the Indian army in 1966. Balram has four brothers and one sister, namely Raj Mehta (Retd. Army Personnel), Shamshe Mehta (Retd. Army Personnel), Narinder Mehta (Retd. Colonel Indian Army), and Surinder Mehta, who is also an Army Officer. His sister’s name is Kusum Mehta, who is a dentist by profession.

Balram played a very crucial role in the ‘Battle Of Garibpur,’ which was fought between the Indian and Pakistani army in 1971. He was in charge of his unit, and he did some extraordinary work.
