Alchemy of Souls Episode 2 Explained: Well, the first episode was very interesting. We saw the introduction of four seasons and the story of Nak-Su aka Mu-Deok.
The second episode starts with a 20-year-old flashback where Do-Hwa has been dead after giving birth to a child. Her husband, tormented after her death takes the child and reaches the royal palace. He blocks the energy gates of the child since the child was not his. By doing this, the child would never be able to use any kind of magic and powers.
Further, we get to know that, the kid is none other than Jang Uk himself. Coming to real-time, Uk offers friendship to Mu-Deok after he sees the blue sparkle in Mu-Deok’s eyes. He saves her from Sou-Yul and she takes her as his maid. In the same episode, we get to know that the shadow assassin who attacked is called DangJu. He is the one who has taken Nak-su’s previous dead body.
Uk gets to know the real identity of Nak-Su and he wants to learn the magic from her. Before anything can happen, everyone is ordered to gather at the training center for an emergency meeting which was to catch the soul shifter.
Unaware of that, Uk and Mu-Deok both go there and we see that Gwigu is unveiled from the Jin family. It’s an heirloom from the Jin family which is helping them for many years. Fortunately, the Gwigu catches someone else since there was another soul shifter as well under the same roof. He gets caught by the Smokey Dark hound-looking fierce Gwigu. The caught guy fights with the soldiers but eventually dies after that the sword of Seo Yol.
Meanwhile, Uk and Mu-Deok tried to slip from all the chaos to save themselves but after a nice walk, Gwigu hound identifies Mu-Deok as a soul shifter. He stalks them from the rooftop while Uk told Mu-Deok to keep running while he can buy her some time. Uk goes to the home and destroys the Gwigu to save Mu-Deok. She is saved after some running and Uk describes the Gwigu destroying thing as a mistake.
Park Jin is extremely angry with this behavior of the Uk. Meanwhile, Uk gets to know that no one is capable of opening his gate of energy since no one is that qualified from the four seasons. At the same time, Mu-Deok is not happy with her current body and incapability to use any powers.
The security of the palace is questioned and the last attack by soul shifter has made things tense. They are thinking to promote Jin-Mu since Gwanju is not in their city now for many years. We get to know that Jin-Mu is not a very good person to take over the position.
Park Jin tried to negotiate by giving him the right to burn the body of Nak-Su and keep her sword. Uk wants the sword and he believes that he or Mu-Deok will unsheathe it. Jin-Mu is sure of the incapability of Uk which is why he burns the body of Nak-Su and gives the Sword to Uk.
Uk gives the sword to Mu-Deok so that she can draw the sword out and learn sorcery from her but it didn’t work as planned. Mu-Deok failed in unsheathing the sword. After giving up, Uk suggests Mu-Deok keep living as it is so that she can be safe and sound. She isn’t convinced that she cannot hold her sword which is why she goes into the water where she surprisingly frees the sword. However, this worked only inside the water and as soon as she was out, she failed again and collapses as soon as Uk arrives there to save her.
He takes her to the infirmary to get her treated; this news reaches everywhere and especially higher-ups. They get curious about what happened and how it happened.
In the end, Mu-Deok poisons Uk and the condition of Uk gets worsens. Officials arrive there and take Uk to the best infirmary for treatment. Before giving poison, Mu-Deok promises that if Uk will survive, she will be his master.
Park Jin captures Mu-Deok and captures her to know what kind of poison she has given to Uk. She isn’t willing to tell and the officials are torturing her continuously. Since this wasn’t working, in the end, we see that Heo Yeom finally decides to save Uk’s life by opening his gate of energy.
Mu-Deok gets to know that before she completely passes out. We see that all these were planned to get the energy doors of the Uk open. Mu-Deok knew that his family will surely choose to save him instead of letting him die and this plan works out.
Uk comes back to his consciousness and takes Mu-Deok with himself to save her life from the torture. Finally, Mu-Deok accepts Uk as his student and the episode ends up with their story being continued.
