The Patient Episode 8 Ending Explained: HULU’s The Patient is back again with an Episode that runs through major development in Alan’s psyche and also Sam’s. With a show based on Psychological Thriller, this Episode has quite some rich content in it. The Episode was also a bit longer in runtime as compared to the usual Episode runtime, with a runtime of 38 minutes.
The Episode featured Alan in his mind palace again with Charlie, who is his therapist who’s dead but is alive inside his brain and they both seem to have their therapy sessions inside. Alan comes to a realization about his son Ezra that he has been treating him harshly for getting converted to the Orthodox Jew and that his reactions were obvious to his son Ezra and that made him so distant from his family.
Coming to that realization, Alan wants to make amends which strengthens his will to get out of the current situation.
Meanwhile, Sam on the other hand finds his boss sending another employee to re-investigating a restaurant that was already investigated a week ago and the waiting line for re-investigation is 8 months so Sam talks with his boss and gets a blunt answer about him being his boss so that piles onto the previous negative feelings that Sam has about him and well, Sam ends up killing him.
Before leaving, Sam recites Kaddish in front of the corpse of his boss. Before returning home, Sam gets a call from his high school counselor that he will take Sam as his patient, and then Sam while playing ping-pong with Alan breaks the news and asks if it comes to that, how will Alan want to die?
The Episode ends with Alan telling Sam a joke about “The Frenchman, Englishman & a Jew were sentenced to death” and before the end credits, we hear the sound of the sharpening of an object. This is the same object that Alan seems to be sharpening along the bedside, probably to attack Sam which gives an opening to the idea that maybe Alan might end up killing Sam.
The Next Episode of The Patient airs next week, i.e., 18th October 2022 on HULU.
