In 1985, after 21 years of marriage, Shakereh divorced her husband Akbar and later married Murali Manohar Mishra, also known as Swami Shradhananda, a Godman. Sources claim that Murali manipulated Shakereh into marrying him.

After their second marriage, they lived in a bungalow at Bangalore’s 81 Richmond Road. They seemed to be enjoying their life as people looked from the outside. However, in 1991, Shakereh’s second daughter, Sabah, discovered that her mother was missing. She inquired with her stepfather, but after a long investigation, the police discovered that Shakereh was buried in the courtyard of her house.

The police stated that Shraddhananda gave her sleeping medicine in her tea, closed her in a coffin, and buried her alive. After that, Shraddhananda was arrested, and it was revealed that her property was the motive behind her murder.
