Samrat Prithviraj Review: One bad trailer and the talks about the film turns out negative, Samrat Prithviraj is a recent example, when the first trailer of the film was released everyone compared the look of Akshay Kumar to the ‘Bala’ look, I just finished the film and here I am going to tell you about the good and bad aspects of the film, I am going to tell you the Storyline, performances and few more details of the film.
The film is based on the life of Great Indian King Prithviraj Chauhan, the film revolves around the Wars fought by Prithviraj Chauhan to save Mother India, his love story with Sanyogita, and how he becomes the greatest ruler and King of all time. There are many books written on the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, and one of the books is ‘Prithviraj Raso’ which was written by Chandravardai. The film is loosely based on the book and some portions like Climax and war sequences were taken from the other sources.
The film stars Akshay Kumar in the main lead role as Samrat Prithviraj, the movie stars Manav Vijj as Md. Gori, Sonu Sood in the role of Chandravardai, Sanjay Dutt in the role of Kaka, and Manusi Chhilar in the role of Sanyogita (Wife of Prithviraj). The film is produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Film and is directed and written by Chandra Parkash Diwwedi. The film is around 2 hours long and you can watch the film with family and Kids.

Opinions about the story & Performances may vary from person to person, but one thing I am sure that everyone would love, is the set of the film, The set is huge, the locations are amazing, the VFX is Just wow and the film looks like Magnum opus, At some extents, the Vfx were better than the Bahubali and other periodic films that were made in India. The songs were too good and they were a treat for the eyes, the costumes, the choreography, and the way the ‘Johar’ and other ritual sequence was presented are Just jaw-dropping.
The screenplay of the film is decent, I will not say it is that great but it is decent and it keeps you hooked to the screens, there are a few sequences that were not needed, but still overall the film has a good screenplay. The war sequences were also amazing, except for those ‘Bala’ faced expressions by Akshay Kumar. The BGM and the songs were amazingly created by Shankar Ehsan Loy and he excels once again in it. The editing is also up to the mark.
Akshay Kumar is good in the film, most of the time he tried his best to look fresh and new in the role, but still, that old image of him takes some time to fade, He is super amazing in the climax and some serious sequences, again the war sequences and his expressions were little hard to digest, some credit for this also goes to the costumes. No one had seen Prithviraj Chauhan in real, but, the Personality of Akshay doesn’t match at that level in some frames. If you want to use the ‘Prithviraj’ in Akshay Kumar, it may take some time, But the class acting of Akshay is all over the film and as I said, he nailed it in the climax.

I was very surprised to see Manusi like this, I don’t mean that she is a bad actress, She looks great, but performing her like this in such a big role was quite amazing and the great thing is, She fits in the role and she passed the first paper of her career with flying colors. Sanjay Dutt looks super cool in the film, his few dialogues add comedy to the film and again he nailed it during the war sequences. If I have to choose the best costume for the film, I will choose the costume of Manav Vij followed by Manusi, Manav looks brilliant in the role and it looks like, he is living the characters, clearly, he is one the best performer of the film.
Sonu Sood excels in the film and he clearly is the best in the film, He nailed it in every frame, and his transformation during the climax was amazing, he changed himself completely and you are going to feel his character. Aashutosh Rana as Jaychand was good in a small yet very crucial role.
I am going with 3.5 out of 5 for the film, The film is one of the best creations of Historical war drama and it should be watched by everyone, the film has some great moments, some great dance sequences and exotic locations and VFX that you should not miss. Go and buy a ticket for the film and watch it in the cinema halls near you.
