Operation Nation Movie Review: The latest comedy-drama is now streaming on Netflix in the English and Polish languages with English subtitles. Directed by Piotr Kumik, the cast includes Maciej Musiałowski, Borys Szyc, Magdalena Maścianica, and other stars. The runtime of the movie is approximately 1.3 hours and is written by Jakub Rużyłło and Łukasz Sychowicz. The movie is rated A. Here is my review of the film.
The movie is the story of Staszek, who is frustrated with his job and boss, who is not giving him a permanent project or promotion. His cousin Roman insists he joins his group, RYS, who were supporting Hitler’s policies. He joins the group and falls in love with left-wing activist Pola in a bar who recently broke up with her boyfriend and is against the group. However, they exchange numbers and start dating. But one day she sees him working for the group, and what will happen next? To know this, you can watch this movie on Netflix.
This was my first time watching a Polish movie, and the movie is quite good. However, the performance of the main lead of the movie as Staszek and his cousin Roman feels good, and their characters and comic timing fit perfectly in the movie. The humor in this movie is great, and some of the one-line punches are very good. The dialogues in the movie are well-written.

One of the negative points of the movie is that some characters feel a little extra in the movie as they are not given a brief introduction in the movie. For example, Staszek’s roommate and his parents could have a much bigger part in the movie, but their connection with the main character feels a little off throughout the movie.
Overall, the movie is good as it sarcastically hits its topic, and the performance by the main leads and the other supporting cast is good. The background score is also good, as it feels good to the ear at some times. The pace of the movie is also decent. If you want to try something new and watch some Polish content, you can watch this movie.
Rating: 3.5/5
