Kurama In ‘Yu Yu Hakusho’: Yu Yu Hakusho is a Netflix action-adventure fantasy drama adapted from Yoshihiro Togashi’s 1990-94 manga. The series follows Yakina, who revives Kazuma’s dead body where we see that Turakane, and along with Koenma, and Sakyo, who stops the merging of the two worlds, ultimately killing himself by shooting himself in the head.
Kurama who is a yokai and stole an artifact from the Spirit World, is revealed to be protecting someone he loves. He reincarnated as a human, merging his spirit with a child’s. Hiei and Kurama help Yusuke attack Younger Taguro, who challenges the injured Yokai. However, they fail to provoke Younger Taguro enough to reach his full potential.
Yusuke uses the Spirit Gun on Younger Toguro, causing him to attack the trio more fiercely. Yusuke discovers that Kurama stole the Mirror of Darkness, an object that can grant any wish and cause natural disasters and mass killings. Where Yusuke learns about Kurama’s past, including being attacked by a creature 17 years ago and entering a fertilized egg. Kurama grew attached to his mother and eventually became her son, Shuichi.
Later, we see that Yusuke is tasked with catching three yokai thieves who steal powerful objects monitored by the Spirit World. He meets Kurama and decides to keep the Mirror of Darkness, which Kurama believes is his mother’s last chance. Kurama’s concern for his mother convinces Yusuke that he is telling the truth about his mother’s situation.
After that, we see that Yusuke discovers that the Mirror of Darkness grants wishes but requires the life of the person making the wish. Where Yusuke sacrifices half of his life to save Kurama’s life, making him an ally. Kurama convinces Hiei to hand over the stolen object to Yusuke. When Keiko is kidnapped, Kurama discovers she’s on an island and accompanies Yusuke to rescue her.

Kurama is played by actor and singer Jun Shison, known for his roles in Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger vs. Go-Busters: Dinosaur Great Battle! Farewell, Eternal Friends, and Ressha Sentai ToQger, plays Kurama in the Japanese and American anime dubs, voiced by Megumi Ogata and John Burgmeier.
