Rudra Review: I was waiting for the series for so long, I know it is based on Luther, but it still makes me excited because I want to see Ajay Devgan on OTT from so long, Hotstar original series Rudra The Edge of Darkness released today on Hotstar, here is the detailed review of Story, Performances and other aspects of the series.

The web series stars Ajay Devgan in the main lead role, along with talented actors like Esha Deol, Atul Kulkarni, and Asish Vidyarthi, the series also stars super talented south Indian actress Rashi Khanna, the series is created by Rajesh Mapuskar and produced by Samir Nair under the banner oF BBC Studios and Applause Entertainment. The series is of a total of 6 episodes and all episodes are approx 40-50 minutes long, the series is not suitable to watch with Family and Kids. Let’s jump to the review.

The plot of the series revolves around Rudra (Played By Ajay Devgan), Rudra is a super cop who can solve crime cases just by looking at, He is having his own anger issues and his way of working is different from others and due to this, he gets suspended most of the times. In all between these something happens which changes the life of Rudra completely, what was that and how did Rudra Manage to get rid of it,? to know this you have to watch the full series on Hotstar.

The performances are the best thing about the series, Ajay Devgan is amazing in his role, he handles the emotion brilliantly and the way he transforms his character was great to watch, The character of Rudra is dark and very intense and it looks like Ajay Devgan was made for it, he nailed it in every aspect and he is the biggest highlight of the series of course. Atul Kulkarni looks great as always, his performance in the climax was a great watch, he never fails to deliver and this series is nothing different.

Rashi Khanna was very good with her role too, she looks perfect and there can’t be any better Bollywood and OTT debut for her, She looks so great during some intense sequences, Esha Deol is such a great actress but she was not up to the mark here, She looks little dull and that charm and intensity was missing in her performance, other actors like Asish Vidyarthi and other were good too with their performances.

The initial episodes of the series Remind me on Zee5’s Abhay, the cases, the way the police solve it, and the way Rudra identifies the killer were very much similar to the Abhay series. The only difference between Abhay and Rudra is of budget and the charm of Ajay Devgan of course. The web series is very slow from the first episode itself, the series got its pace from episode 4 and there it gets its real charm, The story is not up to the mark and the flawed screenplay adds another and major thumb down to the series. The locations were amazing and the series looks lavish, the BGM was great and the VFX and the coloring were superb in the series. I don’t know why Ajay Devgan said yes to the script, there is nothing extraordinary in the script, and this is not a OTT debut material for a big star actor like Ajay Devgan.

  • Name Of The Series: Rudra
  • Season: 1
  • Platform: Hotstar
  • Release Date: 4th March 2022
  • Original Language: Hindi
  • Rating: 2.8/5

I am going with 2.8 out of 5 stars for the series, The series is a must-watch for the Ajay Devgan fans, but if you are expecting something extraordinary then skip it, the series has nothing new and it reminds me of Zee5 original ‘Abhay’. The series is a slow-paced thriller backed by the great performances of Ajay Devgan, If you have nothing to watch, You can have a look at the series on Hotstar.
