Platform 7 Episode 1: Platform 7 is a British psychological horror thriller drama television series set to premiere on ITVX on 7 December 2023, followed by ITV1 after its release. Written by Paula Milne, produced by Dancing Ledge Productions, executive produced by Chris Carey and Laurence Bowen, and produced by Rosalie Carew, the series is a four-part adaptation of Louise Doughty’s 2019 novel.

Episode 1 of this show opens with Lisa who is a ghost and wanders around an empty station in her pyjamas at night. She becomes aware of her ghost status as security guards see through her and walks through walls. As she haunts the platform, she witnesses a man with his dog enter the station and slip a note into his dog’s collar. As a train comes, he jumps in front of the train, taking his own life.

Lisa, who can’t hear the man, and a security guard, see the man, now a ghost named Edward, who can remember his life before his death. Lisa is troubled by Edward’s vivid memory of his life before his death, while she only sees snippets and flashes. Edward tries to leave the station but finds himself trapped, like Lisa, and can’t get on a train or exit the station.
After that we see that Lisa’s parents and boyfriend visit the station to pay their respects on the first anniversary of her death, causing Lisa to feel trapped. The station manager, Melissa, explains that they cannot leave flowers due to copycat cases. However, the love they show for Lisa releases her from being trapped at the station and allows her to follow them home for the first time in a year.

In the flashback scene, we see that Lisa follows her boyfriend, Matt, home, where he breaks down in tears over the anniversary of her death. A newspaper with an article about Edward’s suicide is also open on his kitchen table. Lisa, a woman who was a victim of Edward’s death, is investigated by PC Lockhart, who found out about her suicide at the station the year before.
Lisa climbed over a security fence, wearing only her pajamas, unlike Edward who entered through the main entrance. Lockhart interviews Lisa’s former colleague, who confirms that Richard was strange and stalked her home.
At the last of episode 1, we see that Lockhart visits Richard, who is haunted by Lisa, a door is slammed in his face, raising questions about Richard’s involvement in Lisa’s death.
In a final flashback scene, Lisa is running down a road near the station, seemingly just moments away from her inevitable death, but instead, she appears to be being chased with more details about the story which we see in the next episode.
