The Drop Review:: HULU’s Original “The Drop” has been released on the platform it tells the story of Lex and Mani, a couple who goes on a vacation to an island to attend their friend’s wedding which right after the arrival marks the beginning of the weirdest vacation of their lives when Lex drops the baby of Mia whose wedding they’re attending and also writing the wedding vows for.
This short vacation not only becomes a chain reaction to only weirder events but it also turns out to be full of revelations for everyone. Here’s the review of the film.
The Drop Movie Review
Right from the start, we want to make sure we convey this to everyone who’s reading this. This is a weirdly weird movie and this Indie-Dramedy works so well because it’s not just a comedy but also satire on the current lifestyle of people the director Sarah Adina Smith has done a phenomenal job in it as she also serves as the writer along with Joshua Leonard.
With a short runtime of just a little over 90 minutes, it doesn’t waste any time in conveying what a bumpy and weird ride you’re going to be on as Lex drops the baby. With a group of people, the character introductions have been done quite well and we’re shown what we need to know about those people. Every character is bonkers on another level and the props go to the writers because they’re all different and portray the different superficiality in society right now.
The Drop doesn’t stop giving you weirdly funny scenarios until the very end when it turns out to be the romantic, sweeps you off your feet romance when the couple comes to a realization and that makes the film quite wholesome.
Final Verdict: 3/5
“The Drop is not for everyone and if you can muster up the courage to see a cringe couple and weird people over a vacation acting their highest level of weird, then it’s for you.”
