Ajith and Huma Qureshi starrer Valimai have been setting records in the box office. Though the movie met with average reviews the movie has been faring well at the box office.
Valimai grossed ₹46.1 crores worldwide on its opening day, with the majority of the collections coming from the state of Tamil Nadu. The film crossed the ₹100 crore mark on the third day of release. The film grossed ₹61.50 crores in Tamil Nadu on the opening weekend.
After running in theatres successfully the movie has now entered into the 200 crore club after 9 days. It might it end its entire box office run next week after Suriya’s ET is released. It might gather collection around 210 crores says, trade analysts. Valimai stars Ajith Kumar as ACP Arjun Kumar IAS, Huma Qureshi, Gurbani Judge, and Kartikeya in prominent roles. The movie was released on 24th February clashing with Bheemla Nayak and Gangubai Kathiawadi.
The film is only faring well in Tamil Nadu whereas the makers have suffered huge losses in other states. In the northern belt, the lifetime collection of Valimai is around 5 crores. The movie revolves around a gang of bikers who are involved in many illegal activities and how Ajith puts a stop to them.
This film marked the second collaboration between Ajith, Vinoth, and Kapoor. Principal photography began in December 2019 in Hyderabad and was completed in February 2021. Major portions of the film were shot across Chennai and Hyderabad, in addition to a few sequences in Russia, which were filmed during late August and early September 2021.
