Anime Community is giving us a lot of good news lately, from My Hero Academia Season 6 Announcement to Tokyo Revengers Season 2 Announcement but there’s one news that is a bit sad for all the anime & manga lovers who were waiting for it.
The long-awaited anime adaptation of the manga by Junji Ito titled “Uzumaki” has been delayed again. Originally scheduled to release in 2020 but was delayed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, then pushed to release in 2022, it has been pushed back again. This comes after the staff asked for additional time to recreate the designs to be able to bring the masterpiece by Junji Ito properly and with justice.
This anime adaptation is long-awaited not because of just the story and the work of Junji Ito, although that should be enough there’s other reasons too. The anime adaptation is a collaboration with Adult Swim and the music is being composed by Hereditary Film’s composer Colin Stetson.
The anime focuses on a high school teenager and her boyfriend along with the citizens of a quiet, small town in Japan that is cursed by supernatural events involving spirals. The manga was adapted into a live-action film in 2000 which garnered positive reviews from the critics and audience.
There’s no official news as to when can we expect this 4 episode anime adaptation to release as of now.
