“The Man Who Fell To Earth”, the Sci-Fi Novel written by Walter Tevis that was released in 1963 was adapted for television a couple of times, out of them the notable one was the 1976 film starring David Bowie (Labyrinth, The Prestige) in the film titled the same as the novel which is to this date retains a cult following because of two reasons, first being the story of the film and second, the film being David Bowie’s first role as an actor in a feature film.

The film tells the story of a humanoid alien who appears like an Englishman and travels to Earth from a distant planet in hopes of taking the water to his planet which is suffering from a catastrophic drought.

However, in hopes of doing so, he is met with a lot of challenges and he falls prey to corruption. The film was directed by Nicolas Roeg who also directed Bad Timing and The Witches. It was distributed by Paramount. The film still remains one of the best Sci-Fi films of all time because it tells of the corruption that happens to the purest of emotions in the world, at a deeper level.

Now a TV Series has launched, not as a reboot but as a continuation of the film after 45 years titled the same name and is about to end its first term.
