Sarsenapati Hambirrao Review: Two years back when Tanhaji was released, everyone thought these types of films are made once a year, but guess what, Marathi cinema is doing it every month in 2022, After the biggies and blockbusters like ‘Pawankhind’ and ‘Shershivraj’, here comes another film titled ‘Sarsenapati Hambirrao’, here I am going to tell you about the story, performances, highlights and drawback of the film.
The film stars Pravin Tarde in the main lead role, he will be seen playing the role of Hansaji Mohite, he is also directing the film. The film also stars Gashmir Mahajani as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Raquesh Bapat as Sarjaha Khan. The film also stars Mohan Joshi and Shhrtee Marathe in the crucial role. The film is produced by Shekher Mohite Patil and others. The film is around 2 hours and 40 minutes long and is suitable to watch with family and Kids, Here goes the review of the film.
The film revolves around the life of Hansaji Mohite who was the ‘Senapati’ (Commander in Cheif) in the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj`s army. How he saves the motherland from the attackers and what was his role in Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj`s army the film is all about that. The film is full of the brave and unbelieve battles that he fought for the sake of his motherland.
The film is a Man Show, Pravin Tarde is dominating the film single-handedly, I am not saying other actors were bad, but the thing is, Pravin Tarde was too good, This role requires full dedication and by looking at him on the big screens, it looks like he was made for this role, His transformation, dialogue delivery, and body language, everything was just so clear and up to the mark that you can’t get your eyes off from him.
Gahsmeer Mahajani was brilliant in the character of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, he maintains that ‘aura’ and decorum of the role and the personality of Maharaj, and he looks too good in that. Raqesh Bapat, on the other hand, looks brutal and so real, his screen presence, dialogue delivery, and the fights along with the action sequences were delightful to watch. Other actors like Mohan Joshi and Shhrtee Marathe were also good in their respective roles. Rest other actors were good too.
The screenplay and the story of the film were brilliant, they hold you for around 3 hours, and the action sequences were just too good and were so amazing to watch, The editing needs a little improvement, but still, overall, it was a great film full of great performances.
After watching the Shershivraj and Pawankhind, I was expecting some better and Raw VFX for the film, but sadly the VFX was the poorest part of the film, The team has done a great job considering the small budget, buy yet, I think they need lots of improvement in this segment. The locations were also not as per the expectations and the same watch with the music as well.
I am going with 3 out of 5 stars for the film, If you loved the previous film in this genre, you are going to love this for sure, if you are interested in Marathi culture, Kings, and wars, this film is for you, Go and watch it in the cinema halls near you.
