Nikyatu Jusu’s first directing debut is Nanny, an American psychological horror drama film written and directed by him. Those interested in learning more about this film should read my review before deciding whether or not to watch it. If you’ve already seen the film and are still perplexed about what happened, take a look at this. You may have found all of the solutions; are you still looking? Let’s jump into the ending explanation with full spoilers.
What Is The Story Of Nanny?
In this movie, we see a West African immigrant named Aisha who comes to America for a better life and also plans to earn money so that she can bring her son with her. So, she started working as a nanny for a rich white couple named Amy and Adam, As we also see, the relationship between the couple is not that great.
We see Nanny working to take care of her daughter named Rose because she needed someone. For the time being, the story depicts Aisha’s vision and how she plans to survive it all while also pursuing her dream of bringing her son to the United States.
What exactly are all of Nanny Aisha’s Visions?
Aisha experiences a different vision at a different time, where this dream is not really there but she still feels it. During one of these visions, she is bathing and thinking about the Killing Rose. Fortunately, Aisha returned from her dream in which she was about to kill Rose with a knife.
After that, Aisha will apologize to Rose and tell her that her son caused all this out of jealousy. Following that, we see Rose in shock, refusing to speak to Aisha and still fearful. We also see her different vision that happens sometimes.
Who Are Mami Wata And Anansi The Spider?
In the Aisha Journey, we see that Mani Wata and Anansi the spider also help Aisha figure out her hidden talent in her journey, where we see Mami Wata, an indigenous West African spirit, guide Aisha to know her ability.
Arashi the Spider is an African folktale about a clever trickster who is warned to stay ahead of her plans and never let her undertake you. We see the relationship and fear of attempting to communicate with Aisha in various forms that appear scarier. If you noticed, we also hear the panting of Mami Wata in Malik’s house.
Is Aisha still alive?
As in the ending, which I believe is not a happy one, where we may believe that Aisha may be alive, but we haven’t seen anything, and also where she now has the chance to live with Malik and his son. whereas the presence of Lamine and the mother cost her the American dream where she always tried to be the best mom for her son Lamine where she do everything to give her son a better life.
Nanny is now streaming only on Prime Video; you must check it out. It is also available in Hindi for Indian audiences.
