Mumbaikar Movie Review: Jio Cinema is on fire; they are coming with back-to-back shows and films these days. One of the direct OTT releases on Jio Cinema is Santosh Sivan’s directed film ‘Mumbaikar.’ The film is around 2 hours long and is available to watch on Jio Cinema in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and some more dubbed versions along with subtitles.
The film is a dark thriller and is a kind of anthology film. It revolves around 3-4 characters. The film starts with the kidnapping of a child who is a gangster’s son. How the case and investigation will be common between all those three characters, the film tells you all. The film shows a youth from a village who has come to the city in search of a job, an aimless lover, and a gangster.
The film tries to make you laugh in many instances but fails badly. There are some really amazing performances, and Vijay Sethupathi looks brilliant, but still, the film lacks in terms of screenplay and cinematography. The film also lacks the thrilling element and looks flat. The film has moments of its own, but overall, it fails to make any impact. The music and the background music (BGM) of the film are also below average.
Vikrant Massey is average in his role, and he looks tired and dull. Vijay Sethupathi looks brilliant, and Sanjay Mishra looks good too. Tanya is brilliant as Ishita, and Sachin Khedkar was decent too. Ranveer Shorey shines in his role, but the best performance in the film was by Hridhu Haron. He is the star of the film, and he nailed it in his role.
I am giving the film 2 out of 5 stars. The film has nothing special, and I will not suggest you watch it. Jio Cinema has some great content and shows, and you may look at them if you are looking to watch something this weekend.
