The recently released animated movie “Minions: The Rise of Gru” is firing up the box office numbers.
In the very first weekend of release, the movie collected over $108 million which is pretty amazing. As today is a national holiday in the United States, the film is expected to cross $130 million.
If we stick to these numbers, Minions: The Rise of Gru can break the highest movie opening day record in the history of the 4th of July; Independence day. If the movie touches these expected numbers, it will throw the 2011 released movie Transformers: Dark of the Moon out of its place which was a blockbuster. Transformers earned over $115.9 million within the first four days of its release and it seems like Minions: The Rise of Gru will break this record.
Even after a long gap between the last movie of the Despicable franchise and Minions: The Rise of Gru, the audience is loving this laugh riot and showering all the love this movie needs. The popularity of Minions among kids and teenagers is pretty huge. Parents are taking their kids to the theatres to meet our lovely yellow teddy bears!
Pixar’s “Lightyear” performed very decent which was shocking. Now the performance of Minions: The Rise of Gru will give the studios a sigh of relief.
