Actress and Politician Kangana Ranaut is news again for two reasons. First is her upcoming film ‘Emergency’ and second due to her remarks on ‘Kisan Andolan’ that happened last year. What did she really say and how this is going to impact the box office run and her career, I will try to explain the same in the article.
For all those who don’t know, the film ‘Emergency’ is all set for release on 5th September 2024. The film is based on the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi during her tenure. The trailer of the film created massive buzz all over India and Kangana Ranaut has done a brilliant job in the film for sure.
Now, coming to the statements; During a recent promotional Interview, Kangana targeted ‘Kisan Andolan’ and said that “Kisan Andolan was not only a simple protest, we had seen Murders and even r@pes during the Andolan”. Just after her statement, the BJP released a statement that Kangana is not authorised to speak on behalf of the party and that she has nothing to do with the party’s thinking.

Soon after this, we get to see many videos of boycotts and social groups threatening cinema hall owners to not release the film. Kangana has also informed the Mumbai police to take action on the same. Now the biggest question is how this all is going to affect the box office of the film.
The first thing is clear there is no ground-level buzz for the film and the opening of ‘Emergency’ is going to be very poor. This controversy will give an extra boost to the film and I don’t think the box office numbers will be affected by this. The film is expected to collect 1-2 Crores as per today’s trends on Day 1 and I don’t think these numbers will go further low due to her statements.
She has done a fantastic job for sure, but it would be interesting to see if Kangana’s film will be the next ‘The Kashmir Files‘ or if it will turn out to be another disaster for her.
