Joe Janus & Family Where Are They Now?: “Painkiller: The Tylenol Murders” is a docu-series based on the Tylenol killings that occurred in the 1980s in the USA. It’s known to be one of the biggest tragedies that happened in the USA. People died after taking medicines they thought would save them, but they were poisoned. The docuseries has been released, and you can watch it on Paramount Plus.
In this article, I will tell you about the person who was behind it: The Tylenol Murders Killer’s Name.
Who were the victims of the Tylenol Murders?
Tylenol is a painkiller that everyone takes when they have a cold, fever, and headaches. You can say Tylenol was people’s go-to medicine, which they could blindly take without any suspicion. I mean, who would have thought the pill that gives relief from pain was going to be the reason they would die?
Everything started on September 28, 1982, in the Chicago metropolitan area when the 12-year-old Mary Kellerman took the Extra-Strength Tylenol tablets due to a cold. She was admitted to the hospital after consuming the capsule. She died on September 29, 1982, and on that day, six other people also took the cyanide-mixed capsules. The victims were Mary McFarland, Paula Prince, and Mary Reiner. The other three victims were from the same family who took the capsules from the same bottle.
The three other victims were Adam Janus, Stanley Janus, and Theresa Janus. Adam Janus wasn’t feeling well on September 29, so he bought the Tylenol capsule from the Jewel Osco store in Arlington Heights. He died shortly after taking the capsule, and his family thought it was a heart attack. But they were shocked because Adam was only 27 years old. After returning from the hospital, Stanley Janus and his wife, Theresa Janus, weren’t feeling well, so they took the Tylenol capsules from the same bottle as Adam and lost their lives.
Where are the Victims of the Tylenol Murders’ Families Now?
Adam and Stanley have a brother, Joe Janus. The Janus family originally hailed from Poland but moved to the USA for a better lifestyle and job opportunities. Their lifestyle started to improve, and they were happy.
Stanley married Theresa, and they were very happy. However, the three members of the Janus family lost their lives in just one day, and it had a significant impact. Joe has a daughter, Monica Janus, who was 8 years old when her uncles died. She still can’t forget that day. Monica Janus has a daughter named Isabel. The Janus family is still living in Chicago.
