The exponential rise of south movies with their Pan-India release has brought the Boxoffice at their feet. The mass audience from all parts just wants to watch them be it on Youtube, OTT platform, or the multiplexes. They even engage the audience to watch them in their native language with subtitles.
On the other hand, there is a sense of rejection towards the regressive Bollywood movies hence resulting in their disastrous Boxoffice numbers. The continuous effort to recreate the past iconic movies has not gone down well with the target audience.
Audiences are fed up with the Bollywood industry for not utilizing the budget as they tend to spend most on stars but less on the art of filmmaking. They emphasize spicing up their project instead of on technology which will enable them to compete with the lofty standards set by Hollywood.
But at this juncture, they can’t even compete with the South onslaught, The Big Production houses have set their sight towards investing in South Superstars with a loyal fanbase and booming mass of Hindi-speaking states in the form of Pan-India releases.
On the contrary, the Bollywood superstars have not performed up to their stardom. Failures of big-budget movies like Dhakkad, Bachchan Pandey, Samrat Prithviraj, etc. also consisting of stars is just the start of the downfall of Hindi Cinema. The success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is like finding a needle in the sack of rice.
As most of South Blockbuster has sequels as well and their hefty OTT charges have not only increased the profit of Production House but in return increase the budget of its sequel resulting in better technology involved in Filmmaking. The storytelling of South Directors is been the phenomenal and proper use of VFX has been a cornerstone in converting their industry into a hurricane that will shatter the pillars of Hindi Filmmakers.
The only hope for Hindi Film Industry is to start improving on technology like VFX and 3d editing . The script-based movie should be brought to the forefront and minimize their glamour quotient. Less import of foreign expression fewer mannequins (actress selected only for their beauty and dancing skills, not acting) who acts as script-reading dolls in front of the camera.
A bit meaning full movies and adequate spice and the more content-driven movie is the only hope Hindi cinema has to survive and match its potential. More inclusiveness of talent and the art of storytelling should be the masterstroke that will enable Bollywood to cope up with the Bombing of the South Industry.
