Grahan Review Hotstar: The controversial series of Hotstar titled Grahan is now released on the Hotstar VIP in 7 Indian languages with subtitles, there is a total of 8 episodes and all are now available on Hotstar. I just finished this series here is the full detailed review of the series, I am going to talk about Performances, Plot, Negatives, and positives of the series.

The web series stars Anshuman Pushkar, Pavan Malhotra, Zoya Hussain (Who Was Seen In Mukkebaaz), and  Wamiqua Gabi (Punjabi Actress) in main lead roles. The series is created by Ranjan Chandel and produced by Jar Pictures. The series has a total of 8 episodes, all episodes are approx 45-50 minutes long, there are Kissing scenes, A R@pe scene, and the use of abusive words. So the series is not family-friendly, avoid watching it with family and Kids.

Story

The story starts in Bokaro 1n 1984, where Rishi comes as Paying Guest in the house of a Sikh (Chabra) family. Manjeet Chabra aka Ammu falls for Rishi and she starts loving him, things went very tragic for their love story after the Riots of 1984. After the assassination of then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Sikh Riots happened all over the country and their love story remained incomplete. 33 Years Later IPS officer Amrita Singh (Who is also the daughter of Rishi) restarts the investigation of the 1984 riots. When she came to know about the past secrets of her father, she was shocked and shattered after knowing that her father was also involved in the 1984 riots.

How rishi was involved in the Riots and why? who was the mastermind behind all this, will Amrita choose her duty over her father, all these questions will be answered in 8 episode series of Hotstar.

Performances

Anshuman Pushkar is best among all along with Pavan Malhotra. They both are just amazing and they outshine all their co-actors. Anshuman Pushkar looks so amazing and he is perfect in that semi-Bihari accent, His body language and dialogue delivery look so pure and natural. Pavan Malhotra on other hand is calm and intense, his body language and expressions are the best part of the show. His character is very intense and he portrayed that very beautifully.

Zoya Hussain looks good too in her role, although she was better and amazing in her previous film Mukkebaaz. She looks good during the emotional scenes and the IPS character suits her.  Wamiqua Gabi was a surprise package for me, she looks so cute and amazing. Her expressions are just amazing and she is so good during the dialogue delivery. You may have seen the love story in old Bollywood films, but the acting of Wamiqua Gabi makes it different. Her chemistry with Pavan Malhotra was amazing. The rest of the other actors were decent enough to watch.

Analysis

There are many loopholes and imperfection in the series. The story of the series is very Scattered, the screenplay is poor and sometimes you will lose the grip from the series. The episodes are very long, the climax was just another regular climax and by the end, you would easily predict it. The idea was great, the scenes of the investigation were great but the last 3 episodes were dull, long, and unimpressive. I am still confused, how a 6 feet tall man turns out to be 5’7 when he gets older. I am talking about the character of Rishi, Anshuman Pushkar is playing the role of Younger Rishi who is about 6 Ft. tall while Pavan Malhotra hardly looks 5’7.

I have mixed feelings about the BGM of the show, sometimes it looks great sometimes it struggles. The song was good and Amit Trivedi has done a brilliant job. The locations were decent, the era of 80-the 90s was shown beautifully. Overall series has its own perfections and imperfections.

Rating

I am going with 2.5 out of 5 for the series, the series is a decent watch, if you have time and nothing to watch, You can watch this slow-burn, Long love story drama of Hotstar, as i said there are a total of 8 episodes and all episodes and approx 45-50 minutes long. So you have to give at least 6-7 hours to the series. If you are looking for something Extra, some chilling moments then skip the series.
