Etharkkum Thunindhavan Review (ET Movie Review): Etharkkum Thunindhavan marks Suriya’s comeback to commercial films and as well as a theatrical release after his previous two films got released directly on OTT. After his previous two critically acclaimed movies there are a lot of expectations on this movie. The movie stars Priyanka Mohan in the female lead role.
The plot basically revolves around the enmity between two villages. Once used to live happily celebrating festivals and marriages, the lives of people in these two villages change suddenly after a newly-married girl commits suicide. Suriya plays the role of a lawyer in this movie. His role has nothing new to offer, unlike his previous two roles. He basically plays a commercial hero role like every other south Indian movie.
We can never doubt Suriya’s acting skills and he proved this again by carrying the entire film on his shoulders and becoming the lone savior of the film. The mother-son moments between Suriya and his mother may give you some laughs though they are cringe.
Priyanka Mohan is beautiful on screen. But she is just reduced as a sidekick who just wants to marry a guy and enjoys being stalked, basically not having any importance in the storyline. The marriage scene between Suriya and Priyanka just shocked me thinking twice whether this is a comedy movie or a mass action movie.
Etharkkum Thunindhavan Budget & Day Wise Collection | ET Suriya Movie
Director Pandiraj could have trimmed the movie into 1 half hour. The editing of the film in Mumbai scenes is horrible. The film becomes absolutely unbearable after the interval. When the movie is said to be a women empowerment movie we actually expect women to take a stand and fight for themselves. But instead, they are running after being chased and beaten to death and are waiting for the hero to come and save them.
The cinematography of the movie is decent. The songs are awful barring the first two songs of the movie. There is nothing wow factor or new about this movie. S3x tapes of women getting leaked, them getting blackmailed have been seen already in many movies. The rest of the cast gives decent performances. Only Suriya fans might enjoy this movie after seeing him in a commercial role after a long gap.
I am going with 2 Out of 5 stars for the film, If you are a diehard fan of Suriya then this film may fit you, I will suggest you skip the film, The film was released on 10th March 2022 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions.
