Cold Case Malayalam Review: I Never thought that the horror genre can be mixed with crime thrillers, but the Malayalam industry made it possible. Prithviraj starer Malayalam crime thriller released today on Amazon Prime Video. I just finished the film and here I am with the review of the film, I am going to talk about the story, performances and few more details of the film.

The movie stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Aditi Balan in the main lead roles, the film is created by Tanu Balak and Produced by Anto Joseph, the film is approx 2 hours and now available to watch on Amazon Prime Video In Malayalam Audio along with the English subtitles. The Film is a family-friendly show, but avoid watching it with Kids as there are some disturbing visuals in the film, You can watch the film with family as there is no skin show or use of any verbal abuse.

Story

The story of the film starts in Kerla where a fisherman found a human skull from the lake nearby. The media thinks that the case is related to the Son of the Home Minister of state so, the government appoints a separate team to investigate the case headed by ACP Sathyajith IPS (Prithviraj Sukumaran).

On the other hand Medha Padmaja (Played by Aditi Balan), a journalist and single mother of a Small girl shifts to a new house in the town with her small daughter named Chinnootty, at the new house she feels some Paranormal activities so she decided to meet the priest. The priest suggested that there is a spirit that wants to convey a message to her. When Medha and Satyjith start investigating the case they both meet at a point to find out the killer. Who was the killer? and what was his motive? To know this you have to watch the film on Amazon Prime Video.

Performances

Prithviraj is brilliant in the role of a super talented cop, he looks amazing. This is role is a little different from the other police roles, this time he is more talented and he has used more of his brain than his muscles. His body language, dialogue delivery everything is just superb. He is amazing as always in the film. Aditi Balan looks good too, she looks balanced and she is good with her body language and expressions both. Lakshmi Priyan and Pooja Mohanraj were also good in their respective roles.

Analysis

I was having huge expectations from the film after watching some brilliant crime thrillers from the Malayalam Industry, but this film was a disappointment for me. The plot of the film is very weak and the movie fails to build a bridge between the supernatural and crime thriller genre. The story of the film is very slow and you keep waiting for something extraordinary to happen but in the end, the film ends like just another routine crime thriller. There are many questions and loopholes in the film, I can still have the few ‘ how can a mother leave her small daughter in a haunted house? when a mother gets to know that the house is haunted how can she prefer to investigate it instead of leaving it? there are few technical loopholes too, which we can’t mention here because those loopholes can be the spoiler for the film. You will get to know it when you watch the film.

The pace of the film is very very slow and Screenplay is very poor, the film is very long and it ends like a routine thriller, the BGM of the film is mind-blowing and I liked it very much, the locations were decent.

Overall Rating

I am going with 2 out of 5 stars for film, I will suggest you skip the film, there is nothing like a thriller in the film and the climax of the film is very regular, the film fails to make a bridge between supernatural and cop genre. The film is a family-friendly film and if you still want to watch it, you can watch the film on amazon prime video.
