Awake (2021) Netflix Movie Review: Netflix original film Awake is now released on Netflix and I just finished the film, here I am going to review the film, I would talk about the performances, Plot, and a few more positives and negatives of the film.

The movie is approx 90 minutes long and it stars Gina Rodriguez, Ariana Greenblatt, Shamier Anderson, and Finn Jones in the lead and crucial roles. The movie is created by Mark Raso. The movie is a family-friendly show, there is no skin show, so you can watch the film with your family, the series is avaible in Hindi and English audio with subtitles.

Plot

The story of the film starts post-apocalypse, the story is about a city where electric devices stop working all of sudden, and humans can’t sleep. In a place full of humans who can’t sleep there is the girl Named Matilda who can sleep. Scientists want an investigation on Matilda but her mother jill, a former soldier doesn’t want to sacrifices her daughter to save the world? what was the reason behind all this ? and what would be the end?, to know this you have to watch the full movie on Netflix.

Performances

Ariana Greenblatt is brilliant in her role and the way she has is just amazing, her expressions and the dialogue delivery were a treat to watch, for me, she is the best performer in the film. Gina Rodriguez was equally brilliant but the plot of the series is so dull that it makes her character a little uninteresting. She was good at the expressions but sometimes she lacks during the dialogue delivery. Shamier Anderson and Finn Jones were decent in their respective roles, the rest of the cast was good too.

Analysis

The idea of the film was amazing and this was one of the reasons why I was so excited to watch after watching the trailer, but the screenplay and the final plot of the film are very dull and it lacks so many things. The screenplay is very poor and the movie lacks that thrilling element. The characters of the film were suffering from Isomania but this movie will make you sleep for sure, the first 20 minutes were exciting and after that, the movie goes down and down. The music is decent and the VFX and editing of the film are very poor, there many dull and illogical dialogue in the film that doesn’t make any sense at all.

The Hindi dubbed version of the film reminds me of Who Killed Sara, but the film is way poorer than that amazing murder thriller, the runtime of the movie is 90 minutes but still, it feels very long, dull, and directionless.

  • Name Of The Film: Awake
  • Release Date: 9th June 2021
  • Platform: Netflix
  • Rating: 1.5/5
  • Recommended?: No
  • Family-Friendly?: Yes

Rating

I am going with 1.5 out of 5 stars for the film, better to watch the First Episode of Disney Plus original series Loki, instead of this dull thriller. If you still want to watch the film or want to get sleep, you can watch the film on Netflix, the film is a family-friendly movie and you can watch this with family in Hindi audio on Netflix.
