The Big Bull Review: I was pretty sure that I will not compare the film with the Scam 1992, but I failed, Makers of scam 1992 had made it so amazing that you can’t stop yourself from comparing this movie with the series, although the film has some fictional uniqueness, here in the post I am going to review the Hotstar original film The Big Bull. I would talk about the positives and negatives of the film.
The movie stars Abhishek Bacchan in the main lead role as Heman Shah, the movie also stars Ileana Decruza in the role of reporter, Nikita Dutta, Sumeet Vyas, Ram Kapoor, and others, the movie is produced by Ajay Devgan and directed by Kookie Gulati. The movie is now available on Hotstar and it is suitable to watch with family.
Plot
The movie starts from a Book Launch Hall where News Reporter (Ileana Decruz) is launching her book on the Life of Hemant Shah ( Abhishek Bacchan) and she starts Narrating the story of Hemant, How a middle-class man dreams big and make his dream comes true, the plot of the movie is loosely based on the life of Harshad Mehta and it shows his life journey from Top to Flop in 10 Years during the 90s. How he becomes Big Bull, how his life ended, the movie is all about that.
Performance
Abhishek Bacchan has lots of Potential and it’s all about the Good script and he can make it big. He is amazing in his role except for few scenes (where he laughs out loud like 90s villains), he tried all his best for this role he had nailed it, his role in the film reminds me of ‘Guru’. The movie is centrally based only on Bacchan and the other actors get very little to show. Nikita Dutta is very decent in her role and she looks good in the role of the wife of Abhishek Bacchan, Ileana Decruza is looking average here, her character looks confused and the same is with her body language. The rest in the film were average.
Analysis
The Plot and the Screenplay is the biggest drawback of the film, If you are making a movie Make it fully fictional or fully inspired, how can you keep the movie in the middle and then sell it in the name of a True story. There are lots of scenes where the movie seems funny and illogical, those loud laughs of Hemant Shah were simply a torture, There is another scene in the film where Ileana enters the accounts department of the bank and she checks the Files and no one from the bank even notice her. There are so many loopholes in the film and the movie tries to show Hemant more as a Hero than the Scammer.
Another issue with the film is location, the background music and the coloring of the film, the BGM of the film is very poor, I liked Carryminati’s Yalgaar but that song and tune were not needed here at all. You are spending millions on making a film and then you can’t make an original BGM for your movie, I can’t get this logic.
- Name Of The Film: The Big Bull
- Release Date: 8th April 2021
- Platform: Hotstar
- Rating: 2/5
- Family Friendly: Yes
- Did I Liked It?: A Little Bit
- Recommended?: Depends Upon You
Overall
I am going with 2 out of 5 stars for the film, the only plus point in the movie is Abhishek Bacchan Performance and there is nothing else, the film can be watched as a fictional drama and you may end up with liking it. But if you are comparing it with the SonyLiv original Scam 1992 Just Skip it.
