Shantaram, is the name of not a new Indian Guru that is going to give you enlightenment instead this is the new AppleTV+ Limited series about to begin its term this week. Based on the International Best-Seller of the same name.
Shantaram is about an Australian Fugitive played by Charlie Hunnam who after running away comes to Bombay in the 1980s when Bombay because at that time, it was somewhere you come to start anew and you’re similar to everyone else.
Its about the trials & tribulations that Charlie Hunnam’s character goes through in the country he is not used to, and the culture he’s not familiar with along with it, an inside battle to choose between love & freedom.
The Limited Series is directed by Justin Kurze, Bharat Nalluri, and Ian B Macdonald and is based on the novel of the same name by Gregory David Roberts. The series has been produced by Anonymous Content & Paramount Television Studios.
With a total of 12 Episodes, the series premiere will be on 14th October 2022 with the first 3 Episodes dropping on the first week itself and the remaining airing weekly like the usual AppleTV+ format.
The show shows Mumbai aka Bombay at that time when people used to come to make something of themselves (well, they still do) and it’d be interesting to see a story about Bombay in the 1980s. The series premieres on AppleTV+ this week.
