House Of The Dragon Episode 1 Recap: A Much-Awaited Game Of Thrones Prequel “House of The Dragon” set 200 Years ago the events of Game Of Thrones, specifically 172 Years before Daenerys Targaryen. The first episode of the series titled “The Heirs Of The Dragon” has released on HBO Max with added OTT Platforms as well, in India on Disney Hotstar. Here’s the recap of what the first episode has.
The first Episode did not waste one minute in showing the power struggle for who gets the Iron Throne, the very same thing that was the matter at hand, in Game Of Thrones along with the long winter. Right from the start, we’re shown the passing of power in House Targaryen on who will be the heir, and the Episode focused on just that, who will be the heir? Viserys Targaryen is the current king and he yearns for a male heir from his wife who is pregnant for the 5th time even though he has a daughter who is smart and worthy.
The power struggle inside the House Targaryen was shown beautifully when we’re introduced by Daemon Targaryen, brother of Viserys who is the commander of the City Watch but lacks patience and spends most of his time in the company of whores.
Viserys’s world comes falling down after he’s asked to make a choice between his wife and the unborn child who is still in the womb that only one can be saved and yearning Viserys chooses the child with his wife cut from the womb right before his eyes while she’s awake, only to witness his newborn son’s death ending up with neither alive.
This grief is mocked by Daemon saying his dead son as “An Heir for a day” for which Viserys sends away Daemon to Runestone and makes his daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen, realize what he was searching for was right there in front of his eyes.
The Episode ended with Viserys sharing secrets to Rhaenyra about the long time that is come in the future and how House Targaryen needs to be prepared for that. Well, we’ve seen all that and it did end on a good note. However, what we’re interested is in what happens now. It looks definitely interesting for the first episode and we’re interested to know what happens next.
