Russia to Ban All LGBTQ Movies, and Shows?: We have seen a lot of movies and shows lately promoting LGBTQ ideas in children-centric movies and TV shows. Especially to the kid’s content. If we see, Lightyear, Luca, Love Simon, Hearstopper, and many more shows and series are openly showing Gay and LGBTQ relations in youngsters and children.
A new bill has been proposed in Russia by the legislation to classify the media content that promotes LGBTQ as propaganda under their federal law. That bill called as “Gay Propaganda Bill” focuses on banning all kinds of media that promote non-ethical and non-traditional sexual relations between minors.
If we believe Moscow Media, violation of this bill allows a fine of a whopping 1 million rubles and/or 15 days of jail. Last December, Facebook was fined 4 Million rubles since they failed to delete LGBT Propaganda posts.
This new bill if gets passed will ban all kinds of media content including movies, tv shows, series, OTT content, and everything that promotes sexual LGBTQ-related propaganda.
As of now, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter had to leave the country since they weren’t following Russia’s rules and regulations. It would be interesting to see if the government passes the bill or not.
