HBO’s golden boy otherwise known as “Westworld” has officially returned for Season 4 and its first episode was released on June 26th, 2022, on the streaming service HBO Max. One of the most-awaited seasons of recent times and after the ending of Season 3, it’s keeping the fans on their toes.

What Happened in Season 3 that makes Season 4 a highly awaited series?

In the first couple of Seasons, we see everything happening in the park i.e., Westworld itself, and nothing of the outside world. Just the guests that come inside and the occasional slaughter that happened inside (of the visitors) with the everyday massacre of the robots. The park, itself was a very vast one and we see the variations in the second season when we see signs of Bengal Tigers and Japanese settings.

Now, in Season 3 what happens is that there’s a war waging between the hosts who have developed an artificial consciousness and the humans who just raged on the hosts when they were in the park. Season 3 showed us that Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) has come outside the park and what we see is the outside world with Aaron Paul, a human who has a past and is trying to exorcise his demons but lives a life similar to the host like wake up, eat and sleep.

Now, there are two Dolores, 1.0 who have learned that humans and the hosts have a lot in common than she thought and are capable of forgiveness but the other Dolores V 2.0 in Charlotte’s (Tessa Thompson) body is not.

She wants to annihilate humanity. All in all, Serac, the Co-Creator of the AI that is governing the outside world by collecting massive data about every person on a daily basis and then predicting what a person should or should not do with their lives.

Serac wants to get the data of all the hosts that were in Westworld but he does not have the encryption key for that data. So, in search for Dolores Serac manipulates Maeve (Thandie Newton) into searching for Dolores, and during their fight, Maeve is persuaded by Dolores 1.0 about the decisions that she has made were conscious, not by an AI, and Maeve sides with Dolores 1.0 and kills Serac as Dolores 1.0 dies.

"I'm just a humble cinephile with a knack for stringing words together. My reviews may not be as fancy as "The Grand Budapest Hotel" but they'll give you a good idea of whether a movie is worth the ticket price. I may not be a "Casablanca" of criticism, but I'll always give you my honest opinion. So join me on this journey of cinematic discovery, it's sure to be "One for the Ages."
