Legendary Director George Miller is back with another film but this time with a dark fantasy comedy-drama called “Three Thousand Years of Longing” which stars Idris Elba (Luther, Hobbs & Shaw) as a djinn and Tilda Swinton (Suspiria The French Dispatch, The Chronicles Of Narnia) as a doctor who encounters the Djinn. The film is based on the novel “The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye” which contains mythical short stories published in 1994.

The film’s music has been directed by Tom Holkenborg also known as Junkie XL or JXL who’s famous for giving music in George Miller’s Masterpiece Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). The film is going to be distributed by MGM & Roadshow Entertainment.

It tells the story of a mythical scholar who encounters a Djinn during a conference and the Djinn, in return for his independence gives her 3 wishes. The film had its premiere in Canner Film Festival 2022 and is scheduled to release in August 2022.

The film looks very imaginative and the plot, however, seems like it’s been heard of before, George Miller does not take projects like that. The fact that it’s being directed by George Miller gives a lot of weight to the film so it’s better to not make speculations before the film is officially out.

"I'm just a humble cinephile with a knack for stringing words together. My reviews may not be as fancy as "The Grand Budapest Hotel" but they'll give you a good idea of whether a movie is worth the ticket price. I may not be a "Casablanca" of criticism, but I'll always give you my honest opinion. So join me on this journey of cinematic discovery, it's sure to be "One for the Ages."
