The Broken News Review: Media worlds are dark and we all know it. It can go to any extent to capture stories whether it is true or fake and the same plot is explored in the series “The Broken News” that is released today.

We have seen many movies and series based on media and how it works but this series explores it in detail. It explores the various aspect that media houses face keeping operating, it not only shows the bad part but also covers the good aspect of media. It is adapted from the much-acclaimed BBC series ‘Press’.

The series stars Mirzapur famed Shriya Pilgaonkar, Paatal Lok famed Jaideep Ahlawat and it also marks the debut of the popular actress Sonali Bendre as the main character of which the story plot revolves. There are around 8 episodes in the show and all are around 30 minutes long, there are some sequences which are not suitable to watch with family and Kids.

The story plot mainly revolves around the rivalry between two media houses. One “Awaaz Bharti” is led by Sonali(Amina Quershi) who always goes for true stories, and ethics and never goes against the integrity of the media. Shriya(Radha Bhargav) is one of the fearless investigative journalists under her. Whereas on the other hand, we have “Josh 24/7” led by Jaideep (Dipankar Sanyal). Truth is not a constraint for him, He needs stories as he himself says in a few scenes we cook in stores. He can go to any extent for gaining TRP no matter dishonoring a child suicide, an M*S scandal, or whatnot. He can even go against the government if need to be and always wanted a piece of sensational news and doesn’t care about ethics.

Character development is done mainly for Shriya and Jaideep. Where we can see the constant struggle of Shriya where she is unable to do his job due to certain constraints and blockers may it be from the government or from the media houses. And Jaideep is shown having his own personal life issue where he is on the verge of divorce. Other characters are not explored well and are kept only for the scenes. You won’t get connected to them anyhow like Shriya or Jaydeep.

Talking about the performance of the actors, Shriya naturally shines in the entire series and the entire series somehow revolves around her. How she deals with her cases, how is she linked with Jaideep’s character, how she investigates the cases, and how she finds out about her friend’s death in the mall fire. Jaideep’s character is also written very well and will make you hate him for his action. He was seen never helping anyone for free and always have a return favor in mind. Sonali’s character is also written well and she has done a great job as a compassionate and supportive coworker who always goes for the truth and ethics.

By considering all the above factors I am going with 3.5 stars for it. The show is high-paced and will keep you hooked to the screen. The actor’s performances are the best part and you will feel connected with the Shriya and Jaideep’s characters.
