Significant Other Review: “Significant Other”, a new Paramount+ Original Film has hit the platform recently and is written & directed by Dan Berk & Robert Olsen, here is the review and some good and bad about the film.
Starring Maika Monroe & Jake Lacy in the lead roles with minimal actors, the film’s plot is sort of vague and on a broader view, it looks like a normal “Couple goes on a trip and then something Wrong Turns happens” but it is a treat. With no such big actors, this film is actually a breath of fresh air.
The film revolves around a couple who take a backpacking trip through the Pacific Northwest and realize throughout the trail that they may not be alone there. Well, the film is a Sci-Fi Flick that is a unique take on what we’ve already seen.
It has a “Predator” like setting but works on a different level. A different species of alien is going to come to Earth to take over but first, a scout is sent to map and get the lay of the land that lands on the Pacific Northwest trail where our leads have come on their backpacking trip.
The alien has this unique ability to take the form of the person after copying their biological genome, with everything like their feelings, emotions, their love for anyone you name it. When the alien takes the body of Harry, he copies all the love that he has for his girlfriend, and well, the alien falls in love with Ruth. What happens after is quite interesting.
Good Points
Good Story
Well, the story is the winner here. Well written story and a screenplay to support it with good actors are what a film needs and this one has got it.
Cinematography
The film is shot on the Pacific Northwest trail, so the whole film is in the woods which makes up for some good views of nature.
Runtime
The film is not long and it’s over quite fast because it does not mess around with the story by giving you what you do not need so it’s pretty spot on.

“It is a solid addition to the whole Sci-Fi Alien Invasion Genre and more than decent. Give it a watch this weekend, it’s worth it.”
