Chiyaan Vikram

Playing Adithya Karikalan who is the crown prince to the Chola Empire. Eldest son of Sundara Chola, elder brother of Arulmozhi Varman and Kundavai.

Jayam Ravi

Playing Arulmozhi Varman who is also known as Ponniyin Selvan because he had nearly drowned in the Ponni River in his childhood but was saved so from then on, people believed that the river Ponni saved him and named him “Ponniyin Selvan”. He is the younger brother to Adithya Karikalan.

Trisha

Playing Kudavai who is the Chola princess, daughter to Sundara Chola, and younger sister of Adithya Karikalan & Arulmozhi Varman. She’s also the love interest of Vanthiyathevan.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Playing two roles of Nandhini who is the love interest of Adithya Karikalan but is a Pazhuvoor queen. She’s also playing the role of Oomai Rani meaning The Mute Queen.

Karthi

Playing Vanthiyathevan who is a warrior of the Vaanar Clan and is a witty prince who is asked to deliver messages to the crown by Adithya Karikalan.

Sobhita Dhulipala

Playing Vaanathi who is the love interest of Arulmozhi Varman and is betrothed to him and to be married.

Prakash Raj

Playing Sundara Chola, father to Adithya Karikalan, Arulmozhi Varman & Kundavai who is not well physically in the movie.
